Description
GMS is a client-based software application Programs download to manage their Competitions and their Athletes and Coaches. This application divisions their athletes for competitions and is a place for programs to log results. GMS is currently setup by each Program, and they maintain their own database. Reuben and Ryan can get copies of some Program data.
Some features of this software includes:
- Event Registration
- Divisioning
- Results
- Reporting
- Tournament Brackets
Many Programs use GMS as a CRM in addition to Competition management tool. The most difficult process for our competitions is Divisioning. We division our athletes based on Gender, Age Group and Ability.
Programs also use GMS to track different Types of Certifications such as:
- Athlete Medical
- Athlete Release
- Coach’s certifications – Sport
- Background check
- Concussion Awareness
- Protective Behaviors

Update Frequency
Currently, GMS data are updated per Program. We ask Programs to provide updated GMS snapshots 2 times per year -- following Summer Games and Winter Games. However, Programs can work with our team any time throughout the year to update their data.
Update Process
Programs provide a snapshot of their current data to Reuben via Dropbox. Reuben then uploads the data to SOI servers.
For updating Programs' data: - Once the data are available on our servers, GMSPipeline can be run to update the data in our datawarehouse.
For adding a new Program: - Once the data are available on our servers, the GMSPipeline script must be updated to reflect the new Program. Once the script is updated, GMS Pipeline can be run to add the new Programs' data to the datawarehouse.
Accessing the GMS database
Each Program establishes their own SQL database or standalone Nexus DB, we (SOI) normally do not access a Program live data.
With the ADAPT Program, we have a limited number of Programs data on an Azure SQL Server. If a Programs is having an issue with their GMS we will asked them for a backup so we can look into the issue.
